A total of 1,546 MW of renewable energy from wind, solar, biomass, geothermal and hydro came online in the first quarter of 2103, accounting for 82% of all new domestic electrical generating installed capacity, according to the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission's latest Energy Infrastructure Update report. The remaining 340 MW segment of new generating capacity came from natural gas. No new generating capacity from coal, nuclear power or oil has been added thus far this year. Wind was the top new energy source for the first quarter, with six new "units" totaling 958 MW, followed by solar with 38 units totaling 537 MW, biomass with 28 new units totaling 46 MW, and hydro with four new units totaling 5.4 MW.
